Watching the video was fascinating, I'd no idea how many times you could re-visit each part (and smear the charcoal around) without losing the definition of the subject. Seeing how the different layers were built up and what they each contributed was an education too. I mean, how many times did you return to the eye and add more to it?

The music worked well with the video, what was the piece?

Thank you Russell - charcoal is a great medium to work in because it's so forgiving and great for layers (like the wren's eye!). The reason the charcoal doesn't lose too much definition is down to the gel medium I use over it. Consistency wise, it's quite like an acrylic paint, but it's a fixative. It dries fast so it keep what marks/layers you have preserved. I still need to be careful not to over-smear, but generally it's a good way of working in a loose/expressive way. The music (good question) is a copyright-free piece from Storyblocks which I have for my video editing. It's called 'seeds in the sky'. I can't find out the performer/owner on the tags - I need to figure out where they keep it!!! #homeworkfor kat :)
